What are shareware and freeware?
Shareware and Freeware are types of software that
can be acquired by the user, often by downloading from the web. Freeware
is simply provided for unlimited use free of charge while shareware does
eventually and conditionally obligate the user to pay the requested
fee, which is usually inexpensive compared with retail software.
The conditions requiring shareware payment are that the user has decided
to keep or use the software for reasons other than evaluation purposes.
The spirit of this requirement is basically that if you like
it enough to want to keep it, then you should pay the requested
price as stated in the shareware itself. If you don't like it
enough to want to keep it (or don't think it is worth the requested
price), then you should remove the shareware from your system.
Some shareware witholds certain desirable functions until a password is obtained
via a payment. The shareware on this site (except for Bible Text
Searcher) does not do this. It is fully functional for an unlimited
time which means it is only your own honor that motivates you to pay.
The real changes that take place are that, when people pay, I can afford
to maintain and improve this web site and these programs which do take time
and (in the case of the web site) -- money.
Is Registration Required?
For the Bible Text Searcher program,
yes -- if you want 100% of the search function. For everything else:
No. I do, in some programs, give
means via a password to replace a "payment reminder" message on the
opening screen with a "thank you" message, but no real functional
changes take place in any other programs due to any registration process.
Of course, if you wish to correspond with me or obtain a
password to bypass or replace payment reminders, then I will need
your email address. But I do not give this information out -- I am
rather sensitive to unsolicited ads and spam myself. As many
programmers would be, however, I am eager to hear feedback and suggestions,
positive or negative (preferably constructive) on any of my programs.
Even if it is freeware or shareware that you haven't chosen to pay for, send
me feedback.
Registration: Since I am not accepting credit cards,
you need to use the regular postal service to send in any fees. But
after that, I will confirm and correspond with you by email if you provide
your address.

Ownership:
Both shareware and freeware do remain under my ownership.
While you may have been given (in the case of freeware) or may have payed
for (in the case of shareware) the right to permanently use this
software on your computer, ownership and copyright rights are retained
by me which means modification of any of these programs by anyone else
is prohibited. You may freely distribute it, however, provided
you distribute it in its original downloaded form.
Disclaimers
None of these programs are guaranteed to be free of
bugs. In fact, I in no way guarantee anything about the performance
of these programs on any particular system. You may choose
to use these programs AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will only guarantee
that I have used updated antivirus software to keep everything
virus free, and my programs are free of any malicious intent
from myself (the sole programmer). It is up to you to test and try
out this software to see if it works satisfactorily on your computer.
If you decide to pay the requested shareware fee, then thank you for
your support. Even if you don't, feel free to email me with comments.
